Gunmen kill Radio Nigeria staff in Benue

Gunmen on Saturday night killed the Head of ICT, Radio Nigeria Harvest FM, Makurdi, Mr. Patrick Kumbul in Makurdi, the state capital.
The Spokesman of the Benue State Police Command, Sewuese Anene, who confirmed the incident, said the victims was killed along Amokachi Lane, Low-Level Makurdi.
According to him, the victim’s remain had been deposited at the mortuary while the police had commenced a full investigation into the matter.
It was gathered that the six-man gang who dressed like Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) personnel came on motorcycles, looked for the deceased and killed him before they fled the scene.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has urged the state police command and other security agencies to fish-out the killers of Kumbul and ensure they are brought to Justice.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, the governor described as unacceptable the Radio Nigeria staff murder by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

Governor Ortom urged residents of the state capital and neighboring towns to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of the killers.
The statement read: “The Governor sympathizes with the entire Kumbul family, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and Harvest FM staff in particular over the painful loss.
“As we pray God to grant the deceased eternal rest, all must be done by security agencies to ensure that the masterminds of the dastardly act were brought to Justice.”
